For our Summer volunteer event we joined forces with Homeward Pet Adoption Center. A local no kill pet shelter, housing cats and dogs searching for their forever homes. They also offer a variety of services to the public including spay and neutering, microchipping, last litter program, food bank and behavior consultations. If you are looking for a fun and unique event to attend, they hold Kitten Yoga Sessions for those 16 years and older.
We had such a great time getting to see all of the animals throughout the shelter and were given the opportunity to tour the facilities, which were beautifully done. They have an abundance of space available for both cats and dogs! While volunteering we helped out with folding laundry, washing their van and finishing it off with a coat of polish.
It truly was a dream working with Homeward Pet Adoption! There volunteer opportunities are endless and are open to everyone. A great place to spend your time with furry friends, cuddles included! We highly recommend this company for volunteering, fostering and adoptions! A must see for everyone in the local community!
This holiday season we partnered with Treehouse for Kids. A company that's vision supports giving foster kids a childhood and future. They offer five different services to foster kids and their caregivers absolutely free. Their mission is to support children in foster care academically, socially, and emotionally.
We had the opportunity to help address thank you cards, stuff envelopes and adhere stamps for donors that provided monetary donations or various supplies throughout the year. Our host also gave us a personal tour of the warehouse and shopping store where families can pick out new or like new clothing, shoes, school supplies, toys and more! Festive music and cookies were provided by Treehouse for Kids adding a surprise touch to our afternoon.
We can't express enough how much this volunteer experience meant to us. Treehouse for Kids provides an absolutely wonderful program for foster families and we were honored to work with them. We are looking forward to partnering with them annually. We captured a photo of the store designed by Nordstrom's where foster families can shop for free.
At Freedom Cleaners we are passionate about our community. For our first volunteer event we worked with Puget Soundkeeper Alliance, a company that preserves and protects Puget Sound. The purpose of our volunteer event was to clean up garbage and debris throughout Juanita Beach Park. We spent an afternoon scaling the park, trails, sidewalks and beach area. In total we found over 12lbs of garbage and debris littered throughout the park. Our most interesting find was sewing materials!
During our volunteer event we also collected water samples from Lake Washington to test for pollution. This information was recorded globally throughout the month of September. All samples were then submitted to an international database to compare what areas of the world are most polluted.
Being involved in our community to keep our parks clean was not only a fun experience but a rewarding one too. We were able to chat with locals and even have children interested in what we were doing. Teaching the next generation how to care for our planet is very important! We cherished the time spent volunteering and are looking forward to our next event!
